"AS-IS" policy for in-transit and auction vehicles

Last updated: 9 October 2026

This policy applies to vehicles listed as "in transit" and to vehicles sourced from auctions such as Copart and IAAI on a client's behalf. Please read it carefully before committing to buy such a vehicle for import to Ghana.

What "AS-IS" means

Vehicles sold "AS-IS" are sold in their condition at the time of auction or purchase, without any warranty, express or implied, from Prime Needs Ventures — including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The buyer accepts the vehicle with all its faults, defects and imperfections, known or unknown. Prime Needs Ventures makes no representation about the condition, history or suitability of an "AS-IS" vehicle beyond what the auction house or seller provides.

Where these vehicles come from

Many in-transit and auction vehicles come from Copart and IAAI. These auctions mainly sell vehicles that may have been in accidents, recovered after theft, repossessed, or have other disclosures (for example salvage title, flood, hail or mechanical issues). The auction's photos, videos, descriptions, condition reports and title information are the main basis for the listing and the buyer's decision.

The buyer's due diligence

Before committing to an "AS-IS" vehicle, the buyer is responsible for:

  • Reviewing all photos, videos and information we provide and, where available, the original auction listing.
  • Asking for more information, photos or checks if needed (subject to availability and possible extra cost).
  • Understanding any title brands (salvage, rebuilt, flood, junk) and checking how such vehicles are treated and registered in Ghana.
  • Budgeting for repairs, reconditioning or missing parts after purchase and import.
  • Understanding that descriptions such as "runs and drives" are not guarantees of roadworthiness or long-term mechanical soundness.

We can arrange third-party vehicle history reports (such as Carfax or AutoCheck) at the client's request and expense, where available. These reports may not be complete, current or error-free, and should be one of several tools used.

No guarantees or warranties

Prime Needs Ventures gives no warranty about "AS-IS" vehicles, including about:

  • the mechanical condition of the engine, transmission, electrical systems or any other component;
  • structural integrity or the quality of previous repairs;
  • the accuracy of the odometer reading;
  • undisclosed damage, issues or missing components;
  • the cost, feasibility or availability of parts for repairs;
  • compliance with Ghanaian roadworthiness standards before any necessary repairs or modifications.

Costs after arrival

The price of an in-transit "AS-IS" vehicle is normally quoted up to the port of arrival (for example Tema Port). The buyer pays all later costs, including customs duties, taxes, port charges, clearing fees, local transport from the port, any repairs, and registration in Ghana. We can connect the buyer with clearing agents, but the financial and legal responsibility for these remains with the buyer.

No returns, exchanges or refunds

All sales of "AS-IS" vehicles are final. Once a vehicle is bought (bid won and confirmed) and payment is made or committed, there are no returns, exchanges or refunds for any reason — including dissatisfaction with the condition on arrival, newly discovered issues, higher repair costs than expected, or a change in the buyer's circumstances.

Acceptance

By buying an in-transit vehicle or a vehicle sourced from auction through Prime Needs Ventures, the buyer confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to this policy, are making an informed decision, and accept all the risks, responsibilities and costs described here.
