The stages of an import
- Finding your car: we check listings with you and bid up to the maximum you approve.
- Bought at auction: the auction is paid and the title is processed for export.
- On the way to the port: a truck takes the car from the auction yard to the port (about 1–3 weeks).
- At the port: the car waits for space in a shared container and for the ship.
- At sea: about 3–7 weeks to Tema. A good time to get the duty money ready.
- Arrived in Tema: pay duty promptly; storage charges start after the free days.
- Clearing customs: the clearing agent handles the declaration and release.
- Ready: collect your car or have it delivered.
